BODEGAS VI REI

The past

Llucmajor was one of the first populated areas of Mallorca. This is evidenced by the numerous talaiots and villages scattered throughout the municipality. It was also one of the first areas where the Romans planted vines. And from the beginning he stood out for the excellence of his wines.

The present

At the beginning of this century, the planting of new vines will recover and revitalize the Llucmajor wine sector. The Sa Bassa Plana farm is the place chosen for this. The wines we make at Bodegas Vi Rei reflect the Majorcan landscape. They are wines with authenticity and character. At the time of preparation we apply 7 important rules:
  • Harvest the grapes at their optimum maturity.
  • Do not abuse the extraction during winemaking. C
  • ontrol the fermentation processes to avoid stridency.
  • Properly select the barrels for aging, considering the grain of the wood, the roasting.
  • Do not extend the aging time in the barrels beyond what is necessary.
  • During the assemblage the virtues of each wine should be in the foreground, above the less positive aspects.
  • Always work with an open mind.

The vineyard

Most of the vineyard was planted in 2012 with native varieties such as Premsal Blanc, Manto Negro, Giró Ros and Callet and some of the most important international ones such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malvasia in a total of 100 ha. The viticulture process is carried out following strict criteria, most of them manual, from the pruning of the vine to the harvesting. The climate of the area is of a typically Mediterranean character, with an average temperature of 17º C with slightly cold winters and dry and very hot summers, optimal for the ripening of the fruit, all creating a characteristic “terroir”.

The Winery

The winery was founded in 2014 with a clear objective: the production of high quality wines, introducing the latest technology applied to winemaking. The winemaking process is with low-yield presses and high quality musts, passing to stainless steel tanks, for a temperature-controlled fermentation, obtaining wines generous in aromas and covered with color. Use of aging processes in French oak barrels and sleepers, followed by aging in bottle. The bottling process is carried out entirely in the winery, closing the production cycle, with all productions being limited and numbered.
